It's been a week but we're still riding on the KOMIKON high! We're pretty sure we're not the only ones who noticed that the Philippine Annual Komiks Convention, now on its 7th year, is getting bigger and crazy better. Check out the early bird crowd at this year's event!
That crowd got thicker and thicker as the day progressed, and we're so very grateful a good lot of them supported our books

This year, we launched the
Bayan Knights Origins, an initial collection of 11 volumes that gathers the origin stories of 44 heroes and villains in our roster. With two-pager comics -- some never before published! -- and loads of character data, many new readers and old friends helped make this our most successful launch to date. We really can't thank all of you enough.

Our table manned by Myles Chua (creator of Zheya) and Pablo Laureano (co-creator of Gobino) with a little help from ~gammaknight's Hellsword. Our creators also met with individual success as Aaron Felizmenio, Wan Mañanita, and Kai Castillo joined forces with Mel Casipit ( ~
mukatmanako ) and Tepai Pascual ( ~
tepaipascual ) to launch
Neverheard Web Comics, poised to be part of everyone's online daily comics fix. If you're on facebook, do like their page here -->
[link]Mel, by the way, a long-time friend of BK, was the winner of the Grassroots Award, a recognition of his work as an independent creator, in this year's KOMIKON Awards. Joining him among the winners are our very own
Gilbert Monsanto and
Paul Michael Ignacio as the creative team behind the Best Comics Series of 2011 --
Ang Astiging Boy Ipis!!!
Paul Michael Ignacio ( ~astigingboyipis ) wasn't around to accept his award but Pinoy Superman Herbert Chavez gladly posed with the prize and winning title. Kalayaan finally meets The Council... in the flesh! We're also very proud to announce that
MASO, creation of artist Ramil

Ibay won as the Best Original Character! Learn more about MASO and see more of Ramil's work by liking the official facebook fanpage here
'MASO by Ramil Ibay' . Congrats, guys! Congrats to all the winners!!!

As with the previous years, the Komikon was also a great opportunity to mingle with stars, both in and outside the comics industry

It's also one of the few times we can get most of our more than 60 members together in one place. And this early, are we already seeing the second generation of comics creators in our midst?

We'll next be at the San Pablo Comics Festival on December 3. Do click on the link in our countdown timer for more info about the event. See you there!
